The Spice Army, formerly known as Gemsbok Spice, is a brand born from the fires of a braai and the bonds of brotherhood. In 2020, three brothers-in-law, Gerhard, Marius, and Hendrik, found solace and inspiration in the art of spicing as the world grappled with the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic. United by their love for food and the joy of sharing it, they embarked on a journey that would change the way South Africans approached their culinary adventures.

Despite facing personal losses due to the pandemic in 2021, the trio pressed forward with unwavering determination. They officially launched Gemsbok Spice Pty Ltd at the Sakeliga Kragdag Ekspo in October 2021, turning their shared passion into a successful reality. This launch marked the first chapter of their mission to bring the finest spices to homes, butcheries, hunting lodges, and restaurants across South Africa.

In August 2022, driven by a commitment to continuous improvement, The Spice Army emerged as the new identity for this dynamic brand. This transformation reflects their desire for a name that resonates with all spice enthusiasts and captures the spirit of their culinary adventure.
